Sun Yat-sen created the Guomindang which was a nationalist party at first. -
Yuan Shikai
Yuan Shikai ruled China as a military dictator since 1912, but he proclaimed himself as an emperor in 1916 causing a lose of support. He died time later. -
May Fourth Movement
Students led a mass demonstration in Beijing against the Warlords , traditional chinese culture and the Japanese, this started due to the Versailles settlement which had given Japan Germany’s former concessions in shandong province. This movement was to create a rebirth of China to create an independent nation. -
First Union Front
The GMD was in charge of Jiang Jieshi and he was a committed nationalist

Northern Expedition
This expedition was to crush warlords on center and northern china, this operation was a success in 1927, they took Hangzhou,Shanghai and Nanjing, and also Beijing. They destroyed the warlords. -
