The Townshend Act
The Townshend Act was when several laws got passed by parliament. Those laws took away freedoms and placed more taxes on people living in the colonies -
The Proclamation of 1763
After British got land in America, they made the Proclamation of 1763, which said that the colonists were not aloud to live west of the Appalachian Mountains. This Proclamation angered many colonists since they had already bought land or had gotten large grants to buy land. -
The Stamp Act
The stamp Act was an act that placed taxes on most paper products like newspaper advertisements, stamps and legal writs. The British government made this act to help pay for the war. Colonists were mad about the taxation. -
The Boston Massacre
Some men from the British Army fired guns at a group of colonists in the street after being harassed with snowballs and rocks. The soldiers had to leave the colony later on. -
The Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party took place when angry colonists stole tea from a British ship and then dumped it into the harbor to protest. -
The Quartering Act
The quartering act was passed by parliament and it forced colonists to let the British soldiers live in their homes and provide food and other necessary items. -
The Intolerable Acts
The intolerable acts were laws passed by the British government to punish the colonists and people of Massachusetts for the tea party and other forms of protests. Some of these included closing the Boston ports until they paid back for all the tea as well as trials being moved to England if they were against an official. Another one replaced the elected council with members appointed by the King of England. The quartering Act is another big one, where british soldiers were housed by the people.
