Pontiac's Rebellion
Ottawan chief's failed attempt to fight the British and lure their French allies back to North America -
Proclamation of 1763
The Native Americans did not like the fact that the colonist were using the land in the Ohio River Valley. So, a Native American cheif named Pontiac lead a rebllion. Since Brtiain was in so much debt form the French and Indian war, they could not afford to fight the Navite Americans. So they drew the Proclamation line of 1763. This is important because this made the colonist mad. They just fought the war for the Ohio River Valley, and now they cannot use it. -
Stamp Act
This was a tax on all printed documents in the colonies. The Britsh imposed this tax to help with the war debt. They were looking for the colonist to pay off all of the war debt. This mad the colonist very angry. It was not that hey were being taxed that made them angry, it was how they had representation in parliament. -
Boston Massacre
Colonist stormed a group of Brisish soldiers. the colonist were armed with clubs and were making threat towards the British soldiers. Saying thing like they won't dare to shoot them, calling them bloodly bats. Then the colonist started hitting the British soldiers' guns. For their own safety, the British soldiers opened fire. 5 colonist died. This was important because this lead to the colonist hating the Britsh and wanting revenge. Tea Act
This was a tax on tea in the colonies. Britain new that tea was very important to the colonist. Many if not everyone drank tea. So the Britsih thought the colonist would have no other choice but to pay the tax. But the colonist again were angry how they were being taxed with representation in parliament, so they started to boycott tea. -
Boston Tea Party
After the French and Indian War, they neede to pay off the war debt, and then used the tea act. In December of 1773 people dressed as Mohawk Indians and dumped tea off of the harbor. -
Closing of Boston Harbor
In April of 1774 the Britsh closed the harbors mainly because of the Boston Tea Party, and it affected colonists because they couldn't trade with anyone outside of Boston. -
Massachusetts Government Act
This was an act that didn't allow Massachuetts to govern its self. The king appointed all parts in the government. This was part of the Intolerable Acts. This was put in place buy the king in retaliation to the Boston Tea Party. This angered the colonist because thewy were use to the freedom in having their own government. They did not like the fact the king had control over their government. -
Lexington and Concord
British soldiers were quartered in Boston, and their destination was Lexington and Concord where they captured colonial leaders Sam Adams, and John Hancock. -
Quartering Act
Under the law the colonists had to give quarters, and food and transportation to the British soldiers while they lived in their house.
