The period from the Great Depression in 1929 to the end of world war 2. Australia suffer from the challenges of the widespread poverty and unemployment and some schools wave their fees to help struggling families and surprisingly no schools were closed. -
An Increase In The Employment Of Lay Staff
An increase in the employment of lay staff began despite budget restrictions and continued funding by communities and parishes. -

Major Changes
Major changes occurred nation wide in school funding and after the Goulburn school strike in 1962, the government heath inspectors demanded 3 addition toilets be installed at our Lady of Mercy prep school -
Macauley College
Macauley College would open their doors in 1973 to include lay teachers and catholic schools, they have become more reliant on lay leadership and staff. -
12 Schools Emerged
Over the next seven years another 12 schools emerged alongside the Queensland catholic education commission, a state wide body managing the funding and direction of the catholic education after 40 years as director of catholic education Father Bernard O'Shea was replaced by the first layer Ector Vince O'Rourke. -
New Schools Were Opened
New schools were opened and many of the facilities and venues you use today were established including the current side of the Brisbane catholic education officer Dutton Park. -
