    Event#2 Catherine was born on April 21, 1729 in a city from Prussia known as Stettin. Her dad was Prince Christian August of Anhalt-Zerbst. Her mother was Princess Johanna Elizabeth. She was born with the name Sophie Friederike Auguste and she changed her name to Catherine II after becoming Empress.

    Event #3 England declared war on Spain this is also called The War of Jenkins Ear. WHere he claimed that the SPanish had cut off his ear which sparked tension. In the end neither side had enough resources there was no revolution.
    this is signiificant because if his ear hadent been cut off England would of had no reason to go to war with Spain causing complaints. In the end botth sides were equal.

  • Marriage

    Event #4: At the young age of 16 Catherine got married to Peter who is known as the Grand Duke. They had an unhappy relationship with no affection toward each other. They were both were unloyal to their marriage and once Catherine had children Peter helped raise them but it was a mystery if he was their biological father.
    This was significant because Peter became emperor which lead Catherine become more powerful.

    Event #5: As soon as the Empress dies in 1761 Catherine got recommended to take her spot. She knew that it wasnt going to be pleasant because her hatred husband is now Emporor and he could now divorse her. She looked pass that and she took the spot. This was significant because she is more powerful and her
    determination soon brings her to the top and shows nothing will get in her way.

  • Becoming Catherine II

    Event #6:As Catherine started to take action, she took her troops up to St. Petersburg and declared herself the ruler of Russia and changed her name to Catherine II. She got to arrest her husband and put his life away as a prisoner. She knew she had to find peace between
    foreign countries to get to domestic actions. Foreign policy agreed and it was time for Catherine to see how great of a leader she was.

    Event #7 This war was known in Europe as the Seven Year's War.It ended with the Treaty of Paris. Under the treaty, France gives England all French territory east of the Mississippi River, except New Orleans. The Spanish give up east and west Florida to the English in return for Cuba.

    The Proclamation of 1763
    Event #8 This was signed by King George III. This stated English settlement west of the Appalachian mountains and requires those already settled in those regions to return east in an attempt to ease tensions with Native Americans. This helped with their fight over land and decition making.

    Event #9 Catherine II was very talented in art she made a painting collection and opened a museum in 1764 whuch thrived her talent as an artist. It has been a hit for years and still to this day millions of poeple come every year to see her work and was aaa talented lady she was.
    this was significant because it shows she had it all as a ruler, nothing could get in her way. It was good for her to let out her feelings into work.

    Event #10 Parliament had to pass the Stamp Act which was the first direct tax on the American colonies. CItizens were angry and thought it was unfair. All their taxes went straight to England and they had no say in this decition. They started to put a stop and
    boycott England goods.
    This iis significant because the citezens put so much pressure on the government they got rid of the tax.

    Event #11 Catherine wanted to support Enlightenment ideas, she assembled a group of delegates and they had to figure out the people's wishes to come up with a constitution. Her plan back fired and it came to a downfall with no responce. It become too liberal so she was righ t back to where she started. This was signficant because she learned from her mistakes and she had to find a new way to get citenzs attention and to hold back on the Enlightenment itself.

    Event #12 Catherine had expanded Russia from the west and south. She won many wars and battles and the land kept getting expanding. She was able to get the border which made it good for trading and with her strong army and bold ideas they were on the path to success. this expantion went from 1768-1774

    Pugachevs Rebeliion
    Event #14 Pugachev's Cossack was man who pretended to be Catherine's dead husband he made a plan and sent troops to march on Moscow. Catherine was upset and sent her troops to stop the rebellion. She defeated Cossack but the fear he influenced were not greatly forgotten.
    This was significant because she put a stop to a problem and handled it the way she should have which showed she was loyal to her country

    Event #15 In 1775 is when the Continental Congress was created. Thsi was were they had meetings about liberty whuch included most of the 13 colonies. It was high class and discussed their problems and issues they were facing within the colony. They might have not got all the colines to join them but they tried.
    This is significant because they finally have a time and place to for issues and helps with becoming one whole.

    Event #16 Catherine was a great leader and brought success to Russia. It was a tragedy when she died of a heart attack. even though she was dissapointed in not being able to abolish serfdom she was a great leader that nobody could replac. Her son took over the throne after her death
    this was signficant because it showed how much of a leader she was and how much the country needed her. She would do anything for her country even when the good decition seemed bad.
