    In ancient times the region around the present day uzbekistan had one ethnicity. Who spoke there own language and had practiced there religion. There ethnicity was the turks. Who had spoke there language the turkish language. The religion the turks had been practicing was the polytheistic (poly meaning many and theistic meaning gods).

    In the 700s the Arabs had brought islam to Uzbekistan. The Arabs had exposed their Religion to the uzbeks in the 700s. They were attracted to the wealth of the silk road. They invaded in the 700s to expose their religion.

    MONGOLS INVADED

    The Mongols invaded Uzbekistan in the 1200s. In the 1300 one of the mongal leaders named Timur had conquered the region. They drove the Uzbeks out of that region. In the early 1500s they came from the north. They did not bring a religon but they had drove the Uzbekistan people out of there region

    RUSSIANS TOOK OVER

    The uzbeks were ruling there country until the 1800’s when the Russians took over. In 1924 the *SOVIET UNION (a nation located in Eastern Europe and Northwestern Asia.) and they made uzbekistan one of there states or republics. The soviet government had expanded there mining and agriculture.The uzbeks gained there independence in 1991.

    Today, Uzbekistan’s main ethnicity is the Uzbeks. The language that they speak is called Uzbek. Their main religion is Islam. More than 80 percent of people in Uzbekistan are Uzbeks. They only have one main language they speak, witch is Uzbek. There are many small side groups of tajiks, Kazakhs and Russians. But their main religion is Islam. Now 34.23 million people live in Uzbekistan
