Caryl Churchill was born in London, England, her parents were Jan Churchill(mom) who was a fashion model and actress and her dad who was a political cartoonist. -
1945, Family moves to Canada
After the Second World War, her family had moved to Canada when she was 10 years old. She later attended Lady Margret Hall, a women's college at the University of Oxford. -
Downstairs (produced 1958)
Downstairs was one of the earliest plays she had produced. This play was performed at Oxford by student theater ensembles. This play was also performed at the National Student Drama Festival in 1958 and had won the first prize. -

Serious Money (1987)
This play was one of the plays written by Caryl Churchill and its purpose was mostly to speak about the British stock market. It is also considered one of Churchill's finest plays. -

Escaped alone
In 2016, her most recent full length play called Escaped Alone premiered at the Royal Court. This play was also first performed in January 2016. -
Controversy against Caryl
In April 2022, Caryl Churchill was named the recipient of the 2022 European Drama award as recognition for her life work. This prize was worth £65,000 and was given to her by German theatre Schauspiel Stuttgart. This award was then cancelled after finding out of Caryl's support for boycotts, divestment, and sanctions movement -
