It was otherwise known as the Ardenne counter offense. It was the last major German offensive campaign of the western front. After this the war for Hitler was over. -
Battle of Iwo Jima
It was a major battle which was fought between the United States and the Japanese Imperial Army. The Americans won the battle and would soon after win the war. It is said that the battle is some of the most bloodiest fighting of the war. -
Battle of Okinawa
It was another battle fought between the US and the imperial Japanese army. It was fought on the island of Okinawa and it resulted in an Allied victory. It resulted in major casualties for both sides. -
Victory in Europe Day
It was celebrated in Europe to mark the acceptance of the Nazis formal surrender. It marked the end of the war in Europe. After this day there was only one Axis power left who hadn't surrendered yet. -
Dropping of the Atomic Bombs
The US dropped two bombs on Japan. One named “little boy” and one “fat man”. Soon after Japan surrendered.
