  • Navigation Acts

    Navigation Acts
    The Navigation Acts only benefited England allowing the colonists ship goods to them. This made the colonists smuggle illegally.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamtion of 1763 prevented more fighting between people who were involved with the French & Indian war. It also set the western boundary along the Appalachain Mountains. This angered the colonists & demanaded to move now.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    Parliament made the colonists pay a tax on every piece of paper they used. The tax money was to be used for paying troops on the boundary on the Appalchain Mountains. Other colonists were outraged & didn't pay the tax
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act was made to pay off the debt from war. Britain placed a tex on wine, sugar, & other things. Britain hoped that this act would keep colonists from smuggling. Some colonists boycotted & stopped buying these items. The colonists that boycotted the act told everyone else to boycott is because they though Britain would lower the prices. The colonies became more united with the act.
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act
    The Declaratory Act followed the repeal of the Stamp Act but the act allowed Parliament had the right to tax & make decsions for the British colonies "in all cases." There colonists didn't really do anything.
  • Townshed Acts

    Townshed Acts
    Laws that allowed taxes on all imported goods. Colonists arranged another boycott. The Townshed Act caused the Sons of Liberty & Daughters of Liberty to form.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    British East India Company had control for tea trade in colonies. Eventually, the company was able to sell tea to shopkeepers or merchants who normallt distribted the tea. The colonists called for another boycott & vowed to stop the company from unloading. The Daughters of Liberty made ampamphlet stating taht rather than part with freedom, "we'll part with our tea."
  • Coercive Acts (Intolerable Acts)

    Coercive Acts (Intolerable Acts)
    Coercive Acts were harsh laws that was supposed to punish the peopl of Massachusettes for resistance to the law. Boston Harbor was closed until the tea was paid. Soldiers were forced to stay in Bostonian's houses. Since the Boston Harbor was closed food & supplies weren't able to be delivered. Other colonies sent food & clothes to support Boston.
  • Quebec Act

    Quebec Act
    This act set up a government for Quebec. Quebec, got land west of the Applachain & north of the Ohio River. The provision ignored colonial claims to this area. This angered the colonists & expressed their feelings in a new name for the laws - Intolerable Acts.
