  • The first car

    The first car
The first car was developed by Captain Nicholas Keno in 1770. It was a tricycle with a two cylinder steam engine traveling at four miles per hour for several hundred meters.
  • The invention of the internal combustion engine

The invention of the internal combustion engine has advanced the car development significantly. Unlike a steam engine, its dimensions were relatively small and so were the means needed to carry its fuel materials. So it is especially suited to small vehicles such as the car. The Frenchman Jean Etienne Lenoir succeeded in 1862 in installing such a gas-based engine in a carriage where a steering system was first installed.
  • First four stroke engine

    First four stroke engine
In 1867 the German Nicolas Otto presented the first four stroke engine at the Paris Exhibition. This engine was based on gas-type fuel and rotated about 180 revolutions per minute. Otto has patented his invention in Germany and the United States.

    First car ever sold

In 1879 the German Karl Benz succeeded in producing a car with a two-cylinder engine, and was the first to develop the electric ignition, spark plug, clutch, transmission and projector. In 1886, he patented a design tricycle equipped with a four-stroke engine with a 958 cc cylinder and a 3/4 horsepower. Improved model in 1888 became the first car ever sold.
  • Period: to

    The first production line

In the end of 19st centry, car development continued in various parts of the world as well as in the United States, where several manufacturers were founded, the most notable of which was Ransom Olds who founded Oldsmobile. Olds' great advantage was the invention of the first production line and its establishment in 1902.

    21st Century
Today all cars contain engine (usually fuel, sometimes diesel, liquid hydrocarbon gas or natural gas), transmission system ("gearbox" or "chassis"), steering system, brake system, signaling system, mirrors, taillights and wiper front. Most cars also have a variety of safety systems - seat belts, airbags or ABS, and non-essential systems, such as an audio system or air conditioner.
