    In 1933, before the company was known as "Canon" it was named " precision optical Instruments". there was four founder for the company, Takeshi Mitarai, Goro Yoshida, Saburo Uchida, and Takeo Maeda.
  • First Canon Camera

    The First official Canon product was named the "Kwanon". Released in 1933 as a prototype, the Kwanon was Japan's first 35 mm focal-plane shutter camera.

    In 1947, Precision optical Instruments finally decided to change their name to Canon. Canon was originally named after "Kanon" the Buddhist god of mercy.

    The Canon "IVsb" was released in December of 1952. This product would apparently be the Worlds first speed-light 35 mm flash and shutter camera. This is used today by many people even people who takes pictured on their cellphones

    The Canon Canonflex was the first SLR camera to be introduced in Japan in 1959. Its standard lens is the Canon Camera Co. Super-Canomatic R 50mm lens f/1.8. The camera was in production for one year before it was replaced by the Canonflex R2000

    The CAnonflex r2000 is basically the deluxe version of the Canonflex with twice the shutter speed of 1/2000 sec., other than that, it was really the same as the Canonflex

    The Canon AE-1 was released in 1976, this product was a big thing for Canon because it had a built-in micro computer built into it. This was to trigger an AE boom

    The Canon CR-45NM was the world's first non-mydriatic retinal camera to be released. This was used by medical professionals to screen patients' eyes without dilation, allowing them to check patients eyes without the discomfort from other methods that were used for that specific category. Released in 1976

    The Cano RC-701 was released as the world's first still video camera in the market at time. it had 780 horizontal pixels and recorded its images on a special floppy disc. Although released in 1986 it had a smooth and efficient photography quality

    The Canon EOS 5 was a semi-professional autofocus, autoexposure 35 mm SLR film camera. It was sold from November 1992 onwards and was replaced in late 1998 by the Canon EOS 3.

    From start to now, Canon has succeeded in creating a big product that has changed the way how everyone uses cameras in the photography field. The things that they have accomplished had other companies such as Sony creating products inspired by them. To this day, Canon is still one of the more popular companies when it comes to cameras. And with the community supporting their products, it just encourages them to try to do better with everything that comes up with to build their good reputation.
