First Canon Camera
The First official Canon product was named the "Kwanon". Released in 1933 as a prototype, the Kwanon was Japan's first 35 mm focal-plane shutter camera. -
The Name Change
In 1947, Precision optical Instruments finally decided to change their name to Canon. Canon was originally named after "Kanon" the Buddhist god of mercy. -
The Canon IVsb
The Canon "IVsb" was released in December of 1952. This product would apparently be the Worlds first speed-light 35 mm flash and shutter camera. This is used today by many people even people who takes pictured on their cellphones -
The Canonflex
The Canon Canonflex was the first SLR camera to be introduced in Japan in 1959. Its standard lens is the Canon Camera Co. Super-Canomatic R 50mm lens f/1.8. The camera was in production for one year before it was replaced by the Canonflex R2000 -

From start to now, Canon has succeeded in creating a big product that has changed the way how everyone uses cameras in the photography field. The things that they have accomplished had other companies such as Sony creating products inspired by them. To this day, Canon is still one of the more popular companies when it comes to cameras. And with the community supporting their products, it just encourages them to try to do better with everything that comes up with to build their good reputation.
