    Canada Before Europeans
    Even before when the Europeans explored and discovered North America there were lots of First Nation tribes living there for centuries before the 1500s. They were the first people here, and all of them spread out across the whole land. Blackfoot, Iroquois, Ojibway, and Haida people are a couple of them.

    The Iroquois Confederacy is formed
    Established in 1451 the Five Nations Iroquois confederacy made up of the Mohawks, the Oneidas, the Onondagas, the Cayugas, and the Senecas and when Tuscaroras joined Iroquois in 1712 the group adapted the name Haudenosaunee, which meas ¨six separate Indian nations¨. In treaties and other colonial documents they were known as ¨ Six Nations ¨ Even though they were a whole big group each tribe controlled its own domestic affairs.

    Christopher Columbus Discovers North America
    Christopher Columbus and his crew onboard on a Pinta (ship) were known as the ones first ones to discover North America. When he first got there there were a lot of First Nations people. Some people say that Vikings were the first ones to explore and discover North America. So this basically means that Christopher Columbus was the first European to come and discover North America.

    New France was a colony of the French Empire during the 16th century. St. Lawrence river, Newfoundland and Acadia which is Nova Scotia now, is part of New France. New France did a lot of fur-trading with Native Americans (First Nations). Samuel de Champlain was in charge of successful fur trading with First Nations.

    Deportation of the Acadians
    Acadians lived in Nova Scotia and were neutral. Acadians felt secure because of their friends and allies Mi'kmaq even after their land passed to Britain. At 1755 Lawrence used the delegates to take an unqualified oath of allegiance to Britain and Acadians had a good reason why they refused the oath of allegiance because Acadians knew one day that British would make Acadians fight against France. When the Acadians refused Lawrence imprisoned them and gave order to deport them.

    During the Seven Years of war the French lost the war and had to surrender to the British and after that they signed treaty paris this treaty was important because the French lost Quebec to the British. Which is now one of Canada's most populated provinces.
  • Pre Confederation

    Pre Confederation
    Pre Confederation of Canada was on July 1 1867. Confederation of Canada was made of three British Provinces called The province of Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick eventually The province of Canada will split into two provinces called Ontario, and Quebec. Over the years after the Confederation, Canada has got lots of changes and expansions happening to it. For now Canada has 10 provinces and 3 Territories.
