The battle was one of the bloodiest battle during WW1. It was the British colonies vs Germany and the favor was in the British. The WW was a very serious event. When Canada was able to help end it, it was a huge achievement. Unity for Canada because the result of the battle was in favor of Canada, therefore, it was one more step to defeating Nazis Germany, which would ensure the safety of Canada. -
Influenza Pandemic
The Influenza Pandemic was a disease released by the Germans onto Canadian troops residing in Canada and France. 50000 people died from this Pandemic. It was one of the biggest attacks made by Germany against Canada. Such a loss took a big toll on Canada Disunity because this attack was a victory for the germans, because it ended in the death of 50000 soldiers, which deeply upsetted and rattled Canada. -
Creation of the Portable two-way radio communications system for military
This invention was created by Canada and America to use during battles. This allowed the military of both nations to call for backup. This created a stronger bond between the nations. This collaboration would help each other in the long run. Unity because this invention is an accomplishment and since both countries worked together to create this invention, it has caused unification between the countries and has given peace -
Battle of the Atlantic Sep 3, 1939 – May 8, 1945
This was a the longest military battle during world war II. Among the combatants was Canada. Once the battle ended, in the victory of our country, Canada one step closer to helping the nations end Hitler’s agenda. This was a huge deal considering the holocaust is one of the worst events in history to date. Unity, because it was great achievement for canada which also brought positive attention towards our country. -
The Baby Boom 1946 – 1964
The baby boom is an era when soldiers that returned from WWII and there was an increase in procreation. This caused an increase in population as well. The birth of these newborn empowered to the citizens of the country. It also gave the government a motive to further the security of their nation to protect the newly born generation. Unity because the era resulted in an increase in population shows unity. -
The Cold War 1947 – 1991
The Cold War was war that sprung out due to global-political tension between the west and east. This event could have started another world war. Which would be catastrophic since the world was recovering from the second world war. Canada helped in preventing that to happen. Unity because containing a war is a very big deal which Canada took part in, resulting in keeping world peace. -
Canada-USA Free Trade Agreement
On January 1st 1989 the Trade Free Agreement between Canada and USA came into effect. This symbolized freedom , which pleased the citizens. Which ensured a smooth year and less conflicts. The ensured peace. Unity because it shows peace between two nations which encourages both societies to bond with one another. -
Massive Tire Fire
On February 12 1990, a massive tire fire broke out which took 17 days to put out. This caused a lot of tension and stress among the community. The government also had to waste a lot of their resources to solve the problem. Over this event shook the majority of people. Dis-Unity because this situation caused distress to all the citizens.
