Haymitch calls Katniss "Sweetheart"
In chapter 8, Haymtich calls Katniss sweetheart, which she does not like at all. “Somehow Haymitch calling me sweetheart ticks me off enough that I’m at least able to speak.” Her view on Haymitch here might be unreliable because he was most likely trying to comfort her. -
Haymitch compares Katniss with a dead slug
In chapter 9, Haymitch tells Katniss that she has the charm of a dead slug. “Ouch. That hurts. Even Haymitch must know he’s been
too harsh because his voice softens.” Clearly he regretted it, but Katnisses instant jump to conclusions might be unreliable because maybe haymitch wasnt really thinking when he made this remark. -
Haymitch calls Katniss sullen and hostile.
In chapter 9, Haymitch says that Katniss comes on too sullen and hostile when speaking. “‘Likable. He has a sort of self-deprecating humor
naturally,’ says Haymitch. ‘Whereas when you open your mouth, you come across more as sullen and hostile.’ ‘I do not!’ I say.” This might be unreliable because Katniss might be afraid to admit that she actually is too hostile. -
Peeta talks about Gale being Katniss's boyfriend, which he is not.
Peeta makes a remark that Katniss and Gale are dating, which is not true. Katniss then reacts like this, “My cheeks burn again at the thought of Gale. ‘I don’t have a boyfriend.’” She might be unreliable here because she actually might have a crush on gale.
