Battle of Lexington and Concord
This battle occurred on April 19, 1775, and kicked off the Revolutionary War. This battle was caused by the growing tension between the colonists and the British authorities. The battles were first fought in Middlesex County, Province of Massachusetts Bay, within the towns of Lexington, Concord, Lincoln, Menotomy, and Cambridge. -
The Siege of Fort Ticonderoga
This took place on Fort Ticeronda in New York near the southern end of Lake Champlain. Lieutenant General John Burgoyne had an 8000 man army which occupied high ground above the fort and surrounded the defenses. -
The Battle of Chelsea Creek Suffolk County
This battle was the first naval engagement of the Boston campaign of the American Revolutionary War. It was faught on Chelsea Creek and on salt marshes, mudflats, and islands of Boston Harbor. -
The Battle of Bunker (Breeds) Hill Charlestown
Early in the Revolutionary War the British defeated the Americans in this battle in Massachusetts. The colonists did lots of damage to the Britis, giving them a confidecee boost even though they had lost. -

This battle was apart of a British campaign to seize control of New York and isolate New England from the Rest of the colonies. The British were successful, but with Washingtons defeat, he let his ingenuity allow him to escape and continue the fight. -
The Battle of White Plains
Fought in the New York and New Jersey campaign of the Revolutionary War and followed the retreat of George Washingtons Continental Army, in which British General William Howe landed troops to cut off Washingto'ns escape route. Washington retreated farther. -

Fought on the island of Manhattan when Howe's forces attacked the fort before Washington reached it. -

This battle took place in Princeton, New Jersey. George Washington traveled to princeton on a backroad, and pushes back a smaller British force. He had to retreat before Conwallis came with his reinforcmenets. -

This battle was one of the bloodiest battles. This battle was between British troops and American defenders of the Mohawk Valley. About 50 percent of American forces died, while only 15 percent of the British died. -

This battle was one of the bloodiest battles of the Revolutionary War. The Loyalist and Indian force ambushed Herkimer's force in a small valley, and there were 450 Patriot casualties. -

Brigadier General John Stark and his American forces defeated two detachments of British General John Burgoyne's defensive army. This Battle took place in Bennington, New York, and was the turning point in the American Revolution. -

The British defeated the Americans but left the Revolutionary Army intact. This battle was located near Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, and ended in a victory for the British who successfully drove George Washington and his troops to Philadelphia. -
The Battle of Saratoga (Freeman's Farm)
The Battle of Saratoga had two wars fought- The Battle of Freeman's Farm and the Battle of Bemis Heights only fought eighteen days apart. British General John Burgoyne achieved a small, but expensive victory over the Americans, led by Horatio Gates and Benedict Arnold. -
The Battle of Germantown
This battle was a major engagement in the Philadelphia campaign of the Revolutionary War. The British were led by Sir William Howe, and fought with the American Continental Army with the 2nd Canadian Regiment. The British won this battle, but the COntinetal Army finally attacked the British on the offesive side. -
10/7/1777 The Battle of Saratoga (Bemis Heights) Saratoga County, New York
This battle was fought just eighteen days after the first Battle of Saratoga. The American forces met at Bemis Heights and were led by Benedict Arnold. They successfully drove the British forces back to their camp, and inflicted many losses. -
6/28/1778 The Battle of Monmouth Monmouth, New Jersey
Sir Henry Clinton, the new British commander, retreated from Philadelphia to New York, and as he was doing so, George Washington decided to attack. The troops fought to a standoff. -
The Capture of Savannah
Local American militia and Continetal Army units were fighting against a British invasion force. A British force had captured the city of Savanah, Georgia, with Lieutenant-Colonel Archibald Campbell. -
The Siege of Charleston Charleston, South Carolina
After the British northern strategy had failed, they shifted their focus to the southern colonies. The Americans defensive troops were very hastily prepared. The Americans suffered their worst defeat. -

American forces under Major General Horatio Gates fought against a small British field force, resulting in a victory for the British. The American men were quickly getting sick, but the American General still chose to fight the British. -

The Americans were successful against a loyalist detachment during the British campaign in the South. This battle was the first major patriot victory to occur after the British invasion of Charleston, South Carolina. -

This battle was the turning point of the Revolutionary War in the southern colonies. The Continental Army defeated the British after forcing the British army to retreat, giving the Americans confidence. -
The Battle of Guilford Courthouse
The Americans and British fought for several houses. The British won by forcing the Americans to retreat, but they had lost a huge amount fo soldiers. -
The Battle of Eutaw Springs
This was the last battle that occurred in the South. General Nathaniel Greene withdrew his forces to Charleston, but the British abandoned the rest of the Carolinas and Georgia. -
10/9/1781 The Battle of Yorktown Yorktown, Virginia
George Washington commanded a force of 17,000 French and Continental troops against 9,000 British troops. The British army was destroyed, and Cornwallis surrendered to George Washington as the French and American forces trapped the British at Yorktown.. This was the last major battle of the American Revolution.
