The MAAG was created to help the french who were in Vietnam at the time by giving the vietnamise indirect millitary aid. It was also designed to help stop the spread of communism through out the rest of Indo-China. -

The french are defeated at the battle of Dien Bien Phu removing them from the Indo-China region. This gave freedom to the nations of Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam -
SEATO is created
The Southeast Asia Treaty Organization or (SEATO) was designed by Dwight D. Eisenhower and was suposed to resemble the North American Treaty Organization or (NATO). This organization gave Laos, Cambodia, and South Vietnam special protection under the United states. -

The Ho Chi minh trail is discovered and is part of a bombing campaign known as opperation barrell roll. -

Nixon begins bombings
Nixon begins illigally bombing cambodian soil to protect the pro western government of cambodia and destroy NVA supplies on the Ho Chi Minh trail -

National Guard takes positions
The National Guard takes defensive positions in Kent State as a response to the base burning on May 1, 1970 -
Kent State Shooting
The National Guard opens fire on a protest killing 4 students after a failed attempt to dispearse the crowd. -
Kent State is closed
The Kent State campus is shutdown. The national guard remainsed on sight though. -
US leaves Cambodia
US leaves the Cambodian front leaving the war mainly in the hands of the South Vietnamese. The US did however provide some areal and artillary assistance. -
Pentagon Papers Released
Daniel Ellsberg releases documents showing the illigal cambodian bombings of 1969 to the New York Times. These are then published in the Newspaper. -
War powers Resolutions act of 1973 passed
As a response to the pentagon papers congress passess The War Powers Resolutions act of 1973 which limits the presidential power over the millitary. This was used to ban all aid to Cambodia. This begins the process of the NVA pushing the South Vietnamese out of Cambodia and widening the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
