    Introduction of personal computers and microcomputers. Brought a wider audience and softwere became sophisticated with interactive exercises, simulations and learning games

    Multimedia and CD-ROMs
    Programs started incorporating audio, images, video, and graphics. CD-ROMs allowed more extensive and interactive language learning programs (softwere like Rosetta Stone used multimedia to create immersive learning experince)
