Discovery
It was unthinkable to imagine that the Earth was not the centre of the Universe, Nicolaus Copernicus, thanks to his research, claimed that the Earth was just another of the planets revolving around the Sun. This was an absolute paradigm shift. Heliocentrism is an astronomical model according to which the Earth and planets move around the relatively stationary Sun, which is at the centre of the universe. -
Period: 1543 to
Consecuences
Heliocentrism made an essential contribution to changing man's view of his place in the cosmos and initiated a scientific revolution whose impact continues to this day. -
