    The games were used to show how united Germany was to get people to look away from their hate towards Jews. It was broadcasted internationally. The U.S. almost boycotted the Olympics. Hitlers plans for the ayrians were stopped when Jessie Owens won 4 gold medals

    Hitler had the idea of the perfect race, or German's needed more living space, they had taken control other countries. Poland also housed many Jews. Beforehand, the Nazi's signed a treaty with Stalin that Russia would not aid the other European countries. The nazi's went into Poland through the east and the Soviets came in later through the west. It marked the start of the war in europe. Dates were 9/1/1939-10/5/1939

    The Nazi's pushed all British and French troupes to the port of Dunkirk. The German's had U boats patrolling the harbors preventing warships from rescuing soldiers, so many small boats went out to get the British and French troupes. Over 338,000 troupes were saved. The dates were 5/26/1940-6/4/1940

    Italy surrendered first after Mussolini was removed from power. Germany surrendered May 7, 1945 when allied powers invaded Berlin. Japan surrendered last when the U.S. dropped the atomic bombs.

    The Allied invasion of Normandy, through landing operations on the beach and airborne units landing. It was the 1st step in liberating France. More than 2000 American troupes died

    Iwo Jima was a major battle were the U.S. captured the island from the Imperial Japanese army. The battle lasted 36 days. The U.S. took control of 2 strategic airfields on the island.

    Japan wouldn't surrender so the U.S. used weapons of mass destruction to force them to surrender. They bombed Nagasaki first then Hiroshima.
