British Colonisation

  • Planned to start

    The British planned to go to Australia and set up colonies there at 1780. People also wanted to go to a new place due to factories, and how they created polution, and people were very poor and had no money at all,

  • They were not alone..

    Just after they approached Australia, the British found out they were not alone. Aboriginal people have been living on Australia for more than 26 000 years. They said "Walla! Walla!" which meant go away.

  • The first Settlement

    The convicts arrived in Australia at 1788 January 26. Then they set up the first European colony at Port Jackson.

  • Convicts

    The British began to take convicts over to Australia because America stopped taking convicts and too many people were in jail in Britain at that time

  • The flag was raised

    After the British colonised Port Jackson, they rose the Union Jack, (Their flag) they claimed Port Jackson as Britains Territory.

  • Economic Sadness

    After the British colonised Port Jackson, they began to chop down a whole load of trees. Ruining our wonderful land.

  • Started another Colony

    The British thought it was amazing in Australia, so they started up another colony at Norfolk Island. They did this still in 1788

  • More British Came

    After they started to colonise Australia, they then sent feedback on what it was like in Australia. It was great! So much free land, no pollution and much more! Then, free settlers came to Australia, they were persuaded as the Governor PAID for their trip! So Australia was already filling up with people from Britain. Starting up more colonies in Australia.

  • The Kidnapping

    After Arthur Phillip and the Fleet arrived at Australia, Arthur Phillip decided to capture 2 Aboriginals just to learn their language.

  • Went to Tasmania

    The British spent some time just making their 2 colonies liveable. This took a long time, then, they set out to find some more land to create their 3rd colony. This was created in Tasmania,

  • The 4th Colony

    Only 21 years later after they set up the colony at Tasmania the British decided to create another colony at Brisbane, in 1824.

  • Another Colony

    The British created another new colony, this time at Albany. Going into the land instead of traveling around it.

  • ANOTHER New Colony

    Only 2 years after they set up the colony in Albany, they set up their second last colony at Freemantle.

  • The Last Colony

    The last colony was made at Port Phillip, in 1831.

  • Migrants from Britain

    Migrants from Britain began to populate Australia massively at Victoria and New South Wales because people had no jobs in their town
