This, kids, is where babies are made
In order to train and educate a new generation, the Director gives a group of students a tour of the Central London Hatchery and Conditioning Centre. He informs them of the different methods of decanting and conditioning, determined by the test-tube babies' future jobs, as well as the Bokanovsky Process, which allows for ninety-six individuals to be derived from a single fertilized egg. -

Hey everyone, we're going to have sex
Lenina is very pneumatic, and therefore considered desirable among the Alpha men at the Center. Bernard is an Alpha by title, though his body resembles that of a Gamma. His personality, much like his appearance, also goes against the norm, for his attraction to Lenina is a result of more than just sexual desire. He finally sums up the courage to ask her out on a date, only to be embarrassed by her public announcement of their plans. -

Some soma for your Scruggles
Lenina decides, after much deliberation, that she does indeed want to accompany Bernard on his trip to the Savage Reservation in America. Life there is very different, and Lenina depends on soma to get her through everything that she sees. From aged men, to pregnant women, the contrast between the New Mexico Reservation and her home in London is too drastic for her to handle. -

The Director's a daddy
Upon exploring the Savage Reservation, Bernard comes across two members that appear to be more civilized than the rest of the population. After talking to them, he finds out that Linda is not from the reservation at all, but rather got lost while visiting and could never return to her home. She gave birth to John shortly after. Bernard is able to determine that Linda is the girl from the Director's story, making John the Director's son. -

(Not so) good to see you, son
Determined not to let something worth such shame go unnoticed, Bernard calls Mustapha Mond, World Controller, and convinces him that bringing John and Linda back to London is of great scientific interest. Once Bernard returns, the Director notifies him, in front of everyone, that he will be banished to Iceland. At that moment, Bernard brings in John and Linda, and the Director is publicly humiliated to an outrageous extent. He never really bounces back from this. -

Shut the front window
Horribly aged (in the physical sense) due to years spent on the reservation without advanced technologies, Linda doesn't have much time left. She is put into a room with other dying people, where she will spend her last few days in a soma coma. John comes to visit her and discovers the children playing around her bed. He is the only one who cares that she is dying and the nurses do not understand. This causes him to become angry and throw soma rations out of the window. -

Mustapha Mond's mandates
Bernard, Helmholtz, and John are all called to a meeting with Mustapha Mond. Both Bernard and Helmholtz are told that they will be sent away to an island due to thier inablility to conform and failure to perform societal responsibilities. This will further ensure thier isolation from the general public. John, on the other hand, is not given that luxury; he is required to remain in London for further observation in order to satisfy Mond's scientific interest. He runs away to live in a lighthouse. -

John is gone
The opposite of his intentions, John's escape to the lighthouse actually drew more attention to him from the media. As self-punishment for his impure thoughts and uncontrollable desire, he whips himself, which becomes a sort of show for the local people. One night a crowd gathers outside and begins chanting; it ends with John taking part in an orgy. The next morning John wakes up and realizes what he has done. He is so distraught that he hangs himself.
