Trust vs Mistrust
At 12 months old Basil's mother developed postpartum depression. She would let her cry for hours and days alone in the crib. She would later begin to mistrust her mother.

Industry vs Inferiority
Basil is in the 6th grade and is doing a project for the state fair. She spent lots of time working on this project in hopes to win 1st prize and earn praise from her alcoholic mother. Basil won 2nd prize and her teachers and mother congratulated her on the effort. Thus giving raise to industry.

Intimacy vs Isolation
Basil has been dating Fred Meyer for almost 4 years. She is afraid that he will never ask her to marry him and she will end up alone surrounded by cats. On their 4 year anniversary Fred ask Basil to be his wife. Her long standing fear of isolation is replaced by intimacy.
