The Manchurian Incident
In September of 1931, part of the Japanese Army was stationed in Manchuria. They thought that the Chinese Army had blown up a rail line. So, the Japanese Army captured southern cities in Manchuria. The Japanese Civilian Government tried to stop the army but they couldn't. By Feburary, the Japanese Army had taken all of Manchuria. -
Mussolini Wins Ethiopia!
In October of 1935, Mussolini led Italy into Ethiopia which was an Independent African Kingdom. At first, Ethiopia was fighting back against the facist Italians. But, the Italians gained back the advantage by using posion gas and warplanes. The Ethiopian Emperor fled to Europe and left the capital in Italian hands. -
Chamberlain Meets Hitler
Since Britain and France were unprepared for war they decided to give up the Sudetenland to Hitler so that he would not take over anymore territory in Europe.They also let Hitler annex the Sudetenland on his own policy. -
Francisco Franco takes Madrid!
When the Spanish Civil War started, the Spanish Military started a rebellion against the newly elected liberal government. Franco led the rebellion known as the Nationalists against the liberal supporters which were known as the Republicans. In October, Franco became the dictator of the military rebellion. Once the Spanish Civil War started, the Nationalists asked Germany and Italy for assistance. Germany and Italy provided planes, tanks, and soldiers for the Nationalists. Franco won Madrid! -
Hitler Strikes Poland!
At 4:45 a.m. the German Luftwaffe (Air Force) attacked Krakow, Lodz, and Warsaw. Later that morning, the German Kriegsmarine (Navy) attacked the unprepared Polish Army. Finally by 8:00 a.m., the Germans attacked the city of Mokra.
