Thomas Preston, the commander of the soldiers, was put on trial for 7 days. The result: Due to the fact that his trial was centered on him saying "fire" he was pleaded not guilty, mainly based on reasonable doubt. -

The soldiers, under the command of Thomas Preston, were put on trial for 9 days. The result: Six were aquitted. The other two were found guilty of manslaughter, therefore escaping the death penalty. Thus, they were just imprisoned for a short period of time.
