This war was a different then most. It was a battle that involved a clash with different cultural, religions, and people. It became so big it brought the attention to bigger more powerful countries. -
Bosnia-Herzegovina separates from Yugoslavia
There was a referendum by the Bosnia-Herzegovina government for independence from Yugoslavia. The great amount of Croat and Bosniak voters helped to make this pass.The referendum was rejected by the Yugoslav Constitutional Court but still Bosnia- Herzegovina was recognized as independent by Europe and United States.

War starts
Rodovan Karadzic, a former politician, takes lead of the Serbs and his men takes over Sarajevo. Seventy percent of the area belonged to them. They also massacred Croats and Muslims to make The Serb Republic.

U.N implenting sanctions
On this date the United Nations Security Council, passed "Resolution 787". This is important as this banned shipments to and from Yugoslavia. This was made to hurt the economy. This sanction lifted in 1996.

Safe Areas
The United Nation sent troops to make "safe areas". These areas was aimed to be places where no fighting no shooting or any violence should happen in those areas. Some of these safe areas are Bihac, Sarajevo, Tuzla, and more.The UN also gave aid like food and water to the safe areas.

Muslim-Croat war ends
After many battles both sides were ready for peacemaking. The Bosnian Croaks and Bosniaks brokered an agreement to end the war. Also with this new agreement helped create the Muslim-Croat federation.

Massacre in Srebrenica
General Ratko Mladic ordered the Bosnian Serbs Troops to take over and enclave Srebrenica. It was a massacre, more than 7,000 boys and men died when this occurred. This was a very eventful genocide. The picture is how the graveyard where they buried the victims looks today.

Airstrikes
Because the Bosnian Serbs did a mortar attack on people who lived in Sarajevo, NATO responded with force. NATO soon after started a airstrike campaign that lasted 11 days.This made President of Croatia, Serbia, and Bosnian Muslim to want to do make a peace deal.

Dayton Peace Accords
The Dayton Peace Acord were signed by all three leaders. With this, Around 66,000 NATO (IFOR) troop were dispatched in Bosnia to keep the peace. After long last, the wars are over and each side agreed on how much land each country owns.
The three leaders are: President Alijia Izetbegovic of Bosnia, President Franjo Tudjman of Croatia, and President Slododan Milosevic of Serbia.

President Sloboan Milosevic
Yugoslavic President Sloboan Milosevic, was seen as a hero to sum but was actually a tyrant. He was charged of being responsible for 66 counts genocide and other war crimes. He was arrested in April 2001 and his trail started in 2002. His trails was suspended because of his health.

President Radovan Karadzic
This man was one of the world's most wanted. He got charges of genocide, crimes against humanity and other war crimes. He got sentence life in jail. He was 70 when he was convicted.
