Bob Marley Records his First Song
Before forming the Wailers, Bob Marley tried his hand at a solo career. Legendary reggae producer Leslie Kong let Marley record his first song "Judge Not". Although it wasn't really on par with his later works, it marked the beginning of Marley's long and lucious career. -
Bob Marley and the Wailers - The Formation
After attempting to find success as a solo artist, Bob Marley felt that his talent alone couldn't achieve what he wanted, so he decided to form the reggae band the Wailing Wailers, in order to create better music. HIs friends Peter Tosh and Bunny Livingston agreed to join and started to record music with Marley at the beginning of his career. -
Marley's Big Break
After acculumating national recognition within Jamaica, Bob Marley and the Wailers were finally noticed by a a record label named Island Reoords. After releasing their first full album, Catch a Fire, they toured Britain and The United States in 1973 -
Assassination Attempt on Bob Marley
during a rehearsal for a show they were supposed to perform two days later, the Wailers were attacked by a group of gunmen, most likely extremists from the PNP. Marley was shot in the sternum and bicep, while his wife was shot in the head. Fortunalely, no one recieved any fatal wounds and escaped with their lives. Even after all this, Marley still performed at the show two days later. He fled the country the day after. -
Marley Performs the One Love Peace Concert in Kingaton
One Love Peace Concert
This concert was particulary astounding. As a sign of respect for the country and Bob himself, the leaders of both rival political factions in Jamiaca at the time go on stage and shake each other's hands("One Love concert 1978 Bob Marley"). This just goes to show the power of his music and what it can do to people. -
