Blessed Father Louis Brisson 1817-1908

    born June 23, 1817. He was the only child of
    Toussaint and Savine Brisson, Plancy, France.
  • Priesthood

    ordained a diocesan priest on December 19, 1840.
    His first assignment was as a teacher at the Visitation School in Troyes, France, where Mother Mary de Sales Chappuis served as the
    superior for the Visitation Sisters. He later became the chaplain for the community
  • New Order

    New order was established in August 27th 1876. Father Brisson and five other priests professed vows of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience as the first Oblates of Saint Francis de Sales
  • Death

    Died February 2nd 1908. Oblate Founders Day, October 12th, we celebrate his founding two orders that have spread far beyond the borders of France to the New World, Africa, and Asia. We also celebrate the life of Father Brisson on February 2nd.
