    The 15th amendment was added to the Constitution, saying that all Black men had the right to vote. A few states charged the blacks to vote, making it harder for them. It was usually pretty expensive, and most could not afford it while trying to maintain a household and supplying for their families.

    One girl even had acid thrown in her eyes, and if one of the men from the division had not thrown water into her eyes, she would have been blind.
