On march 4 1903 a black canadian journalist was born, and her name was Carrie Best. She was the first black canadian to owned and published newspaper. Those news papers gave out lessons and are still going on today. Some of those lessons did'nt stop but did'nt as much in some countries. Also some are miss heard in undeveloped countries. -

First Big Thing
On this certain date Carrie published a huge article about Viola Desmond and how she sat where the white people were seated. Also she wrote how whites and black are equal no matter who they are or what they did. She stood up and made sure every one notice that blacks should be treated like any other normal person in canada. -
Whats On the Radio
Wait did you hear that, Carrie best made a radio station and it was called "The Quiet Corner", it was'nt clear what the date was but it was somewhere from Febuary to June in 1952. It was a pretty popular station but got shut down very fast.The show aired for 12 years and was broadcast on as many as four radio stations throughout Canada's Maritime Provinces. -
Hired
In September 1968 Carrie Best was hired as a columnist for pictou advocate, a newspaper company in Nova Scotia. It was made to tell people about the human rights and of its importance. It ran until 1975 when it got shut down for an unknown reason or so i've heard but it still is read to this very day, infact mabye her grand children or children still read it every day? -
One Of Carrie Bests Important Awards
Carrie Best was Best founds the Kay Livingstone Visible Minority Women's Society of Nova Scotia. The society, active until 1994, was in Best's words dedicated to understanding and democracy. The society, named for Ontario rights activist Kay Livingston, raised and provided funds for deserving young blacks -
University
In 1975, Carrie Best was awarded honnorable student in Xavier University, Antigonish, Nova Scotia. She got this award for being true hearted and honest to mostly every one possible. After she was made a Member of the Order of Canada. Also she got awarded doctor for passing all test and no one alse in her class got it. She was a great journalist. -
Task Force
In 1975 Carrie was awarded member of Task Force on the Status of Women, Nova Scotia. -
Doctor of civil laws
Carrie was awarded honorary doctor of civil laws by University of Kings College, Halifax. -
