    Venice was Founded
    Many of the early populations were refugees from other nearby roman cities. The marvelous city was officially founded marked with the cities official founding was marked with the dedication of the first church, San Giacomo. Today, the city is one of the biggest tourist destinations in the world with three million people visiting anually! With all these people it usually has an overcrowded summer.

    Portuguese Cortes calls Phiilip II King of Portugual
    The strong king Sebastion I dies. Ultimately, Phillip II, king of Spain, gained control of the country. He unites the Portuguese and the Spanish crowns in the Iberian Union. He was called "the Prudent", acting with care and thought of the future.
  • Continental Congress authorized George Washinton a Medal

    Continental Congress authorized George Washinton a Medal
    This honorary medal was given to George Washington on only eight days after the British evacuation. Congress commissioned 11 medals in the American Congress series depicting generals and important battles of the American Revolution. Afterwards, George was called " George Washinton of Boston."

    First U.S. Army Medal of Honor was Founded
    This magnificent medal was first authoritied for Saliors and Marines, and the following years for soldiers as well. Since then, more than 3400 medals have been awarded to members of all DoD services and the Coast Guard. Also, the Secretary of War first presented it to six Union army volunteers. Congress made it a permanent decoration due to all the people who received medals.
