Bishop attended Beech Street School (later renamed Dufferin Public School), just down the street from his home. -
Royal Military College
Bishop went to Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario and Began as a Cadet. In his senior year, the war broke out and, Bishop enlisted. -
Mississauga Horse Regiment
Bishop began his military career and was sent to the Mississauga Horse Regiment. -
Royal Flying corps
Bishop applied for a transfer to the Royal Flying Corps -
Military Aeronautics school
Bishop got severely injured. But bnce healed he began his ground training at the school of Military Aeronautics school in England. He graduated and was then put to Suttons Farm on the Thames for anti-Zeppelin night duty. -
Front Lines In France
Sent to the front lines in france where he joined No. 60 Squadron at Filescamp Farm. He had to wait until March 25 for his first real fight in the air, It ended with Billy shooting down his first German Albatross airplane and barely soaring back over to his land to safety. -
British War Mission
Sent to the British War Mission in Washington, DC. -
Married
Billy Bishop got married to Margaret Eaton Burdon in Timothy Eaton Memorial Church in Toronto. -
Completed training
Completed training for the war and moved to the front lines in France, where they were stationed at Petit Synthe. -
The War Has Ended
Billy Bishop sailed to England. Halfway across the Atlantic, the ship received news that the Great War had ended. -
Lecture Tour
Bishop began a lecture tour, speaking about his wartime adventures across North America.During Bishop’s tour he collapsed on stage and was later diagnosed with appendicitis. After healing, he resumed his lecture tour. -
Returns to London
Bishop had returned to London, England working as a salesman for his friend Gordon Perry’s company. -
Geman Ace Association
He was made a member of the German Ace Association, the only non-German to receive such an honour. -
Honourary Air Vice Marshal
Bishop was made an Honourary Air Vice Marshal. He helped expand the Royal Canadian Air Force. -
Director of Recruiting
Bishop became Director of Recruiting for the RCAF, and he and his family moved to Ottawa, ON. -
WWII ends
The world war II ended and Bishop stopped being a recruiter. -
The Oil Business
Bishop returned to the oil business in Montreal. In 1952 He retired from the oil company and began spending his winters in Florida. -
Death
Bishop died peacefully in his sleep.
