Began Presidency
Bill Clinton was victorious over George H. W. Bush, partially because Bush had broken tax promises to the country and partially because Clinton had done a lot of campaiging about the economy. Clinton became the 42nd President of the United States. -
Family and Medical Leave Act
This law required covered employers to provide employees job-protected and unpaid leave for medical family reasons. -
Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act
This law added 100,000 policemen and made harsher punishments fr different types of crimes. This made Clinton's popularity go up. -
Don't Ask, Don't Tell
Clinton enacted this policy that prohibited military personnel from discriminating against homosexual or bisexual applicants. -
Oslo Accords
Clinton watched over the signing of the Oslo Accords between Isreal and the Palestine Liberation Organization, which stabilized Bosnia and helped end Serbia's ethnic cleansing of Albanians. -
National Minimum Wage
Clinton passed a law that increased minimum wage from $4.25 to $5.15. -
Second Term
Clinton defeated Bob Dole to being his second term as President of the United States. -
Impeachment
President Clinton as impeached by the House of Representatives on two accounts. One of perjury and the other of obstruction of justice. These came from the Monica Lewinsky and Paula Jones lawsuit. -
Acquitted
Clinton was acquitted by the Senate, requiring two thirds majority for conviction. Only 50/100 voted guilty on the obstruction charge and 45/100 on the perjury charge. -
Helping Hillary
Although his presidency ended in 2001, he is still active today. He continues to help the Clinton Climate Initiative with global meetings discussing worldly issues. He also helped his wife Hillary's failed attempt at presidency. Now supports the Obama administration.
