The first stone pyramid built in ancient Egypt was the 'Step Pyramid'. The Step Pyramid was built at Saqqara for the pharaoh Djoser. It was made by building several 'steps' or layers of stone on top of each other. -

2100 B.C. Mentuhotep II
By 2100B.C. Mentuhotep II gained control of entire country of Egypt. Mentuhotep II was the son of Intef III and Intef III's wife Iah who may have been his sister. Mentuhotep II is "considered" to be the first ruler of Egypt. He married Neferu II, she was the wife and sister of king Mentuhotep II. Mentuhotep II had 7 wives (or more) who were buried with him in or close to his temple at Deir-el-Bahri. His son Mentuhotep III took his place as king in 2010B.C. And in 1995B.C Mentuhotep II died. -

The Great Sphinx is a large statue carved out of stone. It is located near Khafra's pyramid on the Giza plateau. The Great Sphinx has the body of a lion and the head of a human. -

The second of the Giza pyramids was built for the pharaoh Khafra (called Chephren by Greeks). It was built on higher ground than Khufu's pyramid, so it looks taller than Khufu's pyramid, but it is actually shorter.
