Prohibition was the idea centered around banning and illegalizing the usage of alcohol. The 18th Amendment was made to ban the selling of alcohol in America. All of this was caused by the Temperance Movement. -

Most known for defense on the Eugene V Debs case.
He also defended John T. Scopes in the Scopes trial. -

He founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association. He believed highly in black separatism. Also led the Back to Africa Movement. -

Period in the 20's where there were a lot of cultural changes in the black community.

Warren G. Harding's "Return to Normalcy"
WarrenG. Harding was a presidential candidate in the election of 1920. He had a concept idea to return to the way life was before WWI. This meant big business for republicans with power and industrials with a lot of money and property. -

Was a major incident involving a bribery.

He was an african american author that took place in the Harlem Renaissance. He wrote popular books like "The Weary Blues". He was an innovator of the new Jazz poetry. -

Technically the first celebrity/national star of the time. He was a pilot that was very well known. He was famous for his long flight from New York to Paris in one run. He also had his son murdered, which caught nationwide attention. -

FDR was a president that took place in office predominantly in the great depression. He was the only president, and the last president to be elected into office four times in a row. He was mostly known for his New Deal and relief programs. -

20th Amendment
The 20th amendment was a simple amendment that changed when the politicians would start and leave office. Specifically, the presidency start date and end date changed from March 4 to January 30. -
Civilian Conservation Corp
This was a new Deal agency/act that was made by FDR.
It was for unemployed, unmarried men who were struggling to make it by.
Was centered around relief. -
Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.
Was an agency/act made by FDR.
It's purpose was to ensure that whatever you put in the bank, was guaranteed to be returned to you.
Brought back a lot of banks. -
21st Amendment
Amendment ended prohibition.
Was made because the cons of the 18th amendment outweighed the pros.
Alcohol was good for the economy. -

Responsible for protecting investors.

1936 Summer Olympics
This was the 11th summer olympics and the second to be held in Germany. It was meant to show the "new Germany" to come to terms with the world. This ended up being ruined when Hitler came to power after the games. After the games, some countries began to worry about the rise of Hitler in Germany.
