Reign of King Louis XVI
Louis was born at Versailles on 23 August 1754. In 1770, he married Marie Antoinette, daughter of the emperor and empress of Austria to form an alliance between France and Austria. In 1774, Louis succeeded his grandfather Louis XV as the king of France. -
American Revolution
In Lexington and Concord on April 19 1775 growing tensions between residents of great Britain's 13 NA colonies and the colonial government. Then the rebels waged a full-scale war for their independence. After 1781 in Yorktown, Virginia, the americans had won their independence though the fighting did not end until 1783. -

The french revolution was a period of time where the people of france overthrew the monarchy and took control government after the government leaving france on the brink of bankruptcy. -
Cotton Gin
The cotton gin is a machine created by Eli Whitney and James Hoxworth in 1793 to make the production of cotton fiber. It drastically increased the amount of cotton produced in America which then lead to weapons to be mechanically created. -
Reign of Napoleon
Napoleon Bonaparte was a military leader and an emperor who conquered much of europe in the earlier 1900s. After seizing political power in France in 1799 he later crowned himself emperor in 1804. He successfully waged war against many coalitions of european nations until a disastrous attack on Russia left him exiled to the island of Elba. -
Taiping Rebellion
The taiping rebellion was a civil war in China between 1850 and 1864 led by Hong Xiuquan. The rebellion was against the Qing Dynasty and at it’s best it had 20-30 million people in it. The rebellion costed 20 million people’s lives who most of were civilians. -
Australian Gold Rush
The first gold rush in Australia began in May 1851. A prospector named Edward Hargraves claimed to have discovered payable gold at a site he called Ophir. Gold-seekers from around the world filled colonies in Australia which boosted its population and economy drastically. -
The Unification of Italy
During the 19th century some Italians weren't happy with the results of the Congress of Vienna, two radical callings for the unification of Italy were Giuseppe Garibaldi and Count Cavour. Together these two men helped Italy unite and become one independent country. -
Unification of Germany
Germany used to be made-of many different states each ruled by princes. Several wars between states, other nations and between other countries resulted in nationalism for a unified Germany. In 1871, The German princes gathered in the Hall of Mirrors in Versailles to proclaim Wilhelm of Prussia the new Emperor of Germany. -
Russo-Japanese War
A war between Russia and Japan over control of Korea and Manchuria. The Russians sought a port for better trade but that clashed with japaneses wanting to control other lands for natural resources and take-over in Asia. When the Japanese easily defeated the Russian military their position in the world was reassessed and they were put in higher standing as a world power.
