Lexington and Concord
The British marched from Boston to Concord in search of colonial stockpiles of weapons. They were met by colonial minutemen in Lexington. Someone fired their musket and both sides began to fight. The British moved to Concord where they couldn't find any weapons and were ambushed by the militiamen all the way back to Boston. The Americans won these battles.
Significance: These were the first battles of the American Revolution.
Colonists: 49 killed; 39 wounded
British: 73 killed; 174 wounded
