    The Battle of Dunkirk lasted from May 26 to June 4, 1940. BEF and other allied forces were evacuated to England from Dunkirk as German forces were closing in on them. This was called Operation Dynamo. Germany military leader, Adolf Hitler, invaded France, Charles de Gaulle, which had then caused BEF and the other allied nations to be pushed back to the port in France.This massive operation served as a turning point for allied war effort. This battle is also commonly called the "phony-war".

    The Pearl Harbor battle lasted just a day; December 7, 1941. It was a surprise attack on the U.S. naval base. The Japanese attacked the US. This attack precipitated the entry of the United States into World War ll. Franklin D. Roosevelt declared war on Hirohito, Japan's leader, the day after the attack. Due to the attack more than 2,000 US citizens died, nearly 20 American ships were destroyed and almost 300 airplanes.

    On June 3, 1942, the Battle of Midway had begun. This battle only lasted 3 days; till the 6th of June. Japan and the United States were at war. Franklin D. Roosevelt's army had won over Hirohito's army making it a major victory over Japan's imperial army. Japan's loss at this battle prevented them from moving further into the Pacific. The Japanese lost around 3,000 men, while the US only lost around 300.

    This was a battle between Adolf Hitler, Germany, and Joseph Stalin, the Soviet Union. This battle lasted from August 22, 1942, to February 2, 1943. This battle stopped Germany from advancing into the Soviet Union and marked a positive turning point in the war for the allies. Germany had lost a total of 500,000 men including the 100,000 taken as prisoners. The Soviet Union lost had around 1,100,000 casualties. This was the bloodiest and longest battle of WW2.

    The Battle of Kursk lasted from July 5 to August 23, 1943. Germany launched an attack on the Soviet Union. Adolf Hitler, Germany's leader, had hoped to take as his own, the city Stalingrad. Stalingrad was Joseph Stalin's namesake city. Germany lost to Russia due to Russia's unexpected harsh winter. This battle was a pivotal point in the war. It is estimated that Germany had 200,000 casualties, while Russia had 800,000 casualties.

    Battle of Normandy, also commonly referred to as "D-Day" or Operation Overload, lasted till June 9, 1944. Allied nations participated in this war. Dwight D. Eisenhower, and Rommel were just two of the military leaders who participated in this battle. Around 73,000 allied forces were killed and around 150,000 wounded. This battle led to the defeat of the Germany Nazi forces.

This battle was Hitler's last major offense in WW2. He failed to seperate Britain, France, and America which eventually lead to Germany's defeat in this battle. The Americans suffered around 75,000 casualties, but the Germans had suffered around 80-100,000 casualties.

    This battle was a conflict between the US, whose leader was FDR, and Japan, whose leader was Hideki Tojo, lasting from February 2 to March 26, 1945. Having the US win/secure Iwo Jima prepared for other battle. It was one of the bloodiest battles in the U.S. Marine Corps. The US had around 6,000 dead but then around 20,000 wounded or hurt. Japan had started out with around 20,000 men but fought till there was only a few hundred men left to be taken prisoner.

    The Battle of Berlin lasted from April 20 to May 2, 1945. This battle was one of the last battles of WW2. It ended with the fall of Berlin to the Soviet army. Germany, Adolf Hitler, and the Soviet Union, Joseph Stalin, both fought in this war. The Soviet Union had over 80,000 casualties with around 280,000 sick or wounded. Germany had around 92,000 casualties.
