There were attempts to resupply Sumter and negiotiations with confederate general Pierre G.T. Beauregard, but nothing worked so on April 12, 1861confederate guns had open fire on Fort Sumter and on April 13, 1861 fort Sumter was surrenderd and evacuated. -
Battle of Bull Run
General Irvin McDowell and army marched towards confederate army behind Bull Run creek on July 16, 1861. July 21st McDowell sent two divisions to attack the confederate left flank and pushed them back, but the confederate got back up and held there ground and pushed the union army hard causing them to retreat. -
