    Battles of Lexington and Concord
    First battle in American that had military involvement and it was also the kick start of the American Revolution. The tension between the colonists and British soldiers had been building up for a long time . On the night of April 19, 1775 , General Gage sent out British soldiers to Lexington and Concord to capture colonial leaders. But little did he know that the colonists had already caught wind of his plan and come up with a whole other plan to be prepared for the British attack.

    In the morning of May 10,1775 Benedict Arnold of Massachusetts and Ethan Allen along with the Green Mountain Boys of Vermont surprised the British garrison with a dawn attack on the fort. Even though it was a small battle, it was the first American win of the Revolutionary War. This battle also gave the Americans the much needed weaponry for the future battle to come.

However despite the colonists loss , the inexperienced colonial army caused many British casualties and gave them a much needed confidence boost they would use later on in the war. Even though this battle is known as the Battle of Bunker Hill much more of the fighting happened at the near by Breed's Hill.

This victory uplifted the American colonists, who use to think that they would never win any battles.

    General George Washington led an army of 17,000 French and American troops begins the Battle of Yorktown against British General Lord Charles Cornwallis with his army of 9,000. This became the most important battle of the Revolutionary War. A very rough intense battle lasting twenty three days finally on October 19,1776 Cornwallis surrendered pleading illness.
