  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    The British defeated the Americans in Massachusetts. Although the name is Bunker Hill, the majority of the battle was fought on Breed's Hill. The redcoats charged the hill and had to retreat twice. The third time they got close enough for hand to hand combat, and they outnumbered th Americans. For the Americans it was a moral builder, so not they know they their dedication can defeat the british. For the British they realized it was going to be a costly, long, and tough war.
  • Battle Of Long Island

    Battle Of Long  Island
    The American Continental Army was led by George Washington. The British were lead by general Sir William Howe. The British wanted to take control of New York to isolate New England from the colonies. The British won this battle. Washington and his army luckily escaped. If he would have lost his army then it would have been the end of the revolution.
  • Battle of Fort Washington

    Battle of Fort Washington
    Hessian Lt. General Wilhelm Von Knyphausen attacked Fort Washington near the northern end of Manhattan Island. Eventually the Patriots became overwhelmed, and Colonel Robert Magaw surrendered. Nearly 3,000 patriots were taken prisoner. It was a victory for the British.
  • Battle at Saratoga

    Battle at Saratoga
    British General John Burgoyne got a victory over the American forces led by Horatio Gates and Benedict Arnold. Then he attacked again eighteen days later and was deafeated by the Americans and was forced to retreat. He then surrendered ten days later, resulting in an American victory. This conviced the French government to recognize the colonist's cause and enter the war as their ally.
  • Battle of Savannah

    Battle of Savannah
    The British and the Americans and the French were involved in this. The British Lt. Colonel Archibald Campbell and his forces launched a surprise attack on the Americans defending Savannah, Georgia. THe British then left on their own and the French and Americans held Savannah under siege.The siege was abandoned and British kept control of Savannah. It resulted in a British victory. This was another win for te British, so it just boosted their confidence.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    This is the most important battle of the Revolutionary War. General George Washington commanding the French and Continental troops begins a siege against British General Charles Cornwallis.Washington found out information, and had Charles Cornwallis surrounded. After three weeks of being shot at, Cornwallis surrendered. This ended the war for Independence.
