Importance- the British gained control of the Americas and lost many soldiers due to the surrender, and captured more than 3,000 patriots and munitions and equipment lost 250 soldiers, used loyalist to pacify the patriot population and returned violence in kind

Importance- inflicted casualties that the British could not replace. less than 100 casualties in patriot victory to show they could outfight British force without factors like surprise and geography to help them.
