    The battle of Lexington and Concord
    This battle was significant, because a rag-tag army was able to beat 800 british soldiers. This gave the colonists a lot of confidence. The two patriots that Britain hoped to capture were Sam Adams and John Hancock. Paul Revere warned people that the british were coming. 122 colonists died in this battle. This battle was caused, because the british wanted their weapons back and someone fired the first shot.

    The battle of Fort Ticonderoga
    The militia that helped was the Silas Deane's Militia, this was led by Ethan Allen and Benedict Arnold. Through this battle the colonists were able to get much needed supplies, like guns.

    This battle was led by Major General William Howe. Both sides of this war were very badly damaged, in fact almost half of the british troops were either dead or wounded.
  • The battle of Trenton

    This battle was led by General Sullivan. George Washington had to cross the Delaware river to get to this battle. This happened on December 26. Nearly all of the Hessian troop was captured. This battle reassured the colonists that they were able of fighting.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    This battle happened in Seratoga county. The result of this war was that the british and Hessian troops surrendered their arms. This battle helped the french want to help the colonist. The French finally realized that they should help. George Washington led the American colonial troops. This is a turning point, because the French are now supporting the colonists and many British and Hessian troops surrendered to them.

    The significance of the battle was that General Cornwallis surrendered to George Washington as the french and american troops trapped the british in yorktown.
