Battle of Brandywine
This battle took place west of Philedephia. Generals: Washington and Howe. British victory. American troops were extended along a six-mile line covering the east side of the Brandywine Creek. The British wore red coats and bearskin caps. The British ended up driving the Americans out of Brandywine Creek. -
Battle of Saratoga
Battle took place in Saratoga County, NY. Commanders: General John Burgoyne (British) Benedict Arnold (Colonial) American Victory. Burgoyne and Clinton were both judgemental and mean about their movements. The British ended up surrendering to America. -
Battle of Monmouth
Took place in Monmouth, NJ. Commanders: Sir Henry Clinton (British) George Washington. It ended in a draw. It is sometimes known as the Battle of Monmouth Courthouse.The Americans harassed the British by burning bridges and cutting trees across roads. Part of the Battle was fought near Sandy Hook. Molly Pitcher also apparently was a nurse for this battle -
Capture of Savannah
Took place in Savannah GA. Commanders: Archibald Campbell and Robert Howe. The British held Savannah for the duration of the war, which they used as a base to conduct coastal raids from Charleston. Campbell gained control of the city. The British kept control of Savannah until July 11, 1782, when its troops were called off. -

Took place in Cowpens, SC. Commanders: Banastre Tarleton (British) Daniel Morgan (Colonial) American Victory. It was a turning point in the reconquest of South Carolina from the British.The British drove in anticipating victory only to encounter another, stronger line after exerting themselves and suffering casualties. Cowpens was a surprising victory and a turning point that changed the war. -
The Battle of Guilford Courthouse
This battle took place in North Carolina. Commanders: Lord Charles Cornwallis Nathanael Greene. The most intense fighting took place on the third line where General Greene had put his Continentals. So many of his soilders were killed from this line, he ordered them to retreat, giving the British another victory. -
The Battle of Yorktown
Took place in Yorktown, VA. Commanders: Lord Charles Cornwallis and George Washington American Victory. French soldiers landed in Rhode Island to try to help their American since they were allies. Washington fired the first gun and apparently the bullet smashed into a table where British officers were eating. Washington told his army to fire at the British all night so that they could not fight back.
