It was the first major conflict coming from the Revolution in New York.
The British outnumbered the American troops, and most of the Continental Army's soldiers were not trained and were poorly equiped.
British captured the Jamaican Pass, and surrounded the American troops.

Washington thought the Americans needed a quick battle to boost their morals, and many men would leave the army after their one year was up.
The British and Hessians did not expect an attack in such horrible weather and on Christmas day, and were caught off guard.
Less than 500 Hessians made it out while the Continental army had 5 casualties.

Parto of the battle took place by the Birmingham Meeting Place, and the other at Brandywine Creek.
The British forced the Continental Army to retreat, but were too tired to follow, so it wasn't a large victory.
Americans suffered many casualties and lost artillery.

Last Land battle of the Revolutionary War.
British army surrendered.
Cornwallis refused to go to the ceremony of surrender by saying he was sick, and made another General surrendor for him.
