Lexington and Concord
Lexington was fought when British troops sent out to capture Sam Adams and John Hancock, but were fronted by a small army of colonists which were killed by the British, this war was a failure. Concord was fought when the British tried to seize gunpowder but were attacked by colonists. Paul Revere warned them that the British were coming. Battle of Fort Ticonderoga
This happened when a small force of Green Mountain Boys led by Ethan Allen and Colonel Benedict Arnold overcame a small British garrison at the fort and looted the personal belongings of the garrison. Bunker Hill
General Israel Putnam, American Commander. The British took possession of Bunker Hill. They won the battle, but killed 2,200 troops, 268 British soldiers and officers had been killed. The Americans also suffered losses with 115 killed and 305 wounded. -

After the battle, nearly the entire Hessian force was captured, with small losses to the Americans.

Battle Of Saratoga
This battle took place in the Hudson River In New York. Burgoyne attacked the Americans at Bemis Heights on October 7th, but this time was defeated and forced to surrender. He did this ten days later. The American victory convinced the French government to recognize the colonist’s reasoning and enter the war as their ally. -
Battle of Yorktown
The significance of the battle was that Cornwallis surrendered to George Washington as French and American forces trapped the British and their leader Charles Cornwallis at Yorktown. Became the last major land battle of the American Revolutionary War.
