  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    Paul Revere warned the militia about the British attack at Concord. At Concord the British experienced fire from Patriots, but the Patriots retreat. As the British head back to Boston, the Patriots ambush them the whole way back (guerrilla warfare). This battle kicked off the American Revolutionary War. The Americans won, and the British lost significantly.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    The British defeated the Americans at the Battle of Bunker Hill in Massachusetts. Even though the Americans lost, the battle provided them with an important confidence boost. The Battle of Bunker Hill was a British victory, and the British realized this wasn't going to be easy and would be a hard fight.
  • Battle of Long Island

    Battle of Long Island
    On August 22nd, Washington sent 10,000 troops under the command of Israel Putnam to slow down the British, Washington took the rest of the Continental Army to Manhattan. Washington withdrew from Manhattan due to being no match to the British (and defeat of Putnam's forces). The British won and gained control over the city of New York.
  • Battle of Trenton and Princeton

    Battle of Trenton and Princeton
    In December of 1776 General Howe ordered his army to cease operation for the winter. The Americans set up camp in Valley Forge for the winter. On christmas night, Washington and his troops crossed the Delaware River. At Princeton, the Americans killed 500 British troops. As a result of the American victories at Trenton and Princeton, the Americans were reenergized for revolution.

    The British forces that were sent to Bennington, Vermont encountered a larger force of militia and were forced to surrender. The Battle of Saratoga consisted of two separate battles that were fought three weeks apart. The Battle of Saratoga is a turning point in the Revolution, because it convinced the French that they had a decent chance at winning. The Americans won the battle.

    The Battle of Vincennes was a Revolutionary War frontier battle that was fought in present- day Vincennes, Indiana. This battle was won by American commander George Rogers Clark over a British garrison that was led by Lieutenant Governor Henry Hamilton.

    The Battle of Bohomme Richard vs. Serapis was the most remarkable single ship duel of the American Revolution. The Battle was between the Bonne Homme Richard commanded by John Paul Jones and the HMS Serapis. The U.S ship Bohomme Richard commanded by John Paul Jones wins a hard fought battle against the British ship Serapis.
  • Battle of Charleston

    Battle of Charleston
    The Battle of Charleston was one of the major battles. It took place toward the end of the American Revolutionary War. Major General Benjamin Lincoln surrendered to British Lieutenant General Sir Henry Clinton and his army of 10,000. The battle of Charleston was a major British victory. The Americans surrendered unconditionally to the British.

    Battle of Guilford Courthouse
    The Battle of Guilford Courthouse in North Carolina, on the date of March 15, 1781, proved importance to the American victory in the American Revolutionary War. This fight was a hard fight between the Americans and British. The American forces won, and the British suffered significant troop losses during the battle.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    George Washington commanding a force of 17,000 French and Continental troops, began the siege known as the Battle of Yorktown against British General Lord Charles Cornwallis and his 9,000 British troops on September 28, 1781. The American Continental Army and the French army won the Battle of Yorktown.
