    Great Britian decides to raise revenue from its 13 colonies. People were not happy.

    Most controversal tax was passed. It was called the Stamp Act of 1765. It said that you have to pay taxes for using paper.
  • 1770 Boston Massacre

    1770 Boston Massacre
    Propaganda was spreading bad things about Britain. March 5, 1770 there was a fight between one colonist and one soldier. A crowd gathered. One shot went off and everyone started firing. THis became known as the Boston Massacre- the shot heard around the world.
  • 1773 Boston Tea Party

    Colonists wanted to protest the British taxes. So they dressed as indians, went to the harbor, and dumped 340 tea chests into the Boston Harbor.
  • Coercive Act

    To punish Boston, the Parliament passed the Coercive Acts. 1-Boston Harbor was closed until ruined tea was paid for. 2- Massachusetts Charter was cancelled. 3- British royals accused of crimes were able to go to Britain for trial because their punishment would be less there. 4- Colonists were required to house British soldiers. 5- Quebec Act gave land to Quebec.

    Paul Revere found out and road ahead of the British to warn the colonists. One lantern hung at the church meant that the British were coming by land and 2 lanterns meant the British were coming by sea.

    Militamen were waiting for the British when they got there and they fought!

    The official start of the Revolutionary War because of the battles of Lexingon and Concord.

    News of the battle finally reached London and by the following summer a full scale war of independance broke out.
