    Was a man who was influential in founding both the South Carolina State Baptist Convention and Southern Baptist Convention, he was a pastor and served as a missionary in China. Johnson served as the president and vice-president of the South Carolina convention and was the last president of the General Baptist Missionary Convention (1841-44) despite his attempts to maintain unity between Baptists in north and south they split over the issue of slavery.

    Was a gifted administrator, pastor and theologian, he was a man who wanted to begin a baptist seminary for southerners, a vision which was brought to life when Southern Seminary opened in 1859. Boyce served as the chair of the faculty, from the founding of the seminary until his death 1888, this was functionally the president of the seminary a title which he did eventually take up in that last year. Boyce had a very clear vision for what the seminary should be which he outlined in 1856.

    Was a woman who is renowned for being a missionary to China, having spent the majority of her adult life serving nearly 40 years in total. She was willing to suffer alongside the people she was serving in the most trying of circumstances and therefore can be seen as a positive example of someone who was willing to give up a life of comfort for the gospel and she saw success in seeing many people come to faith in Christ.

    was a pastor, editor and seminary professor, who fought for the confederates during the American Civil War and looked to defend the cause of Baptists both locally and nationally. He played a significant role in the Baptist General Convention of Texas where he was known as a great motivator and organizer. He also served as president of the SBC for four terms 1917-1920.

    The SBC was first brought together in 1845 following the demise of the Triennial Convention over appointing slave owners as missionaries; the churches of the south supporting slavery. These Baptist churches from the south came together in a more organized fashion than the Triennial Convention under the guidance of William B. Johnson, and formed the SBC, they formed Home and Foreign Mission Boards which were appointed by the convention its self and under its overall authority.

    SBTS was intended to be an institution for the training of men for ministry, it began with just 26 students in Greenville, South Carolina with four professors The four men who were founding faculty James P. Boyce who served as the first president along with John Broadus, Basil Manly Jr., and William Williams, these men were all previously college professors, accomplished preachers and experienced pastors.

    Was a hugely influential figure on all of Southern Baptist life and theology within the twentieth century, originally wanting to serve as a missionary to Brazil following coming to faith, he served as a pastor in Baltimore and the New England where he grew to understand the plight of the poor. Mullins wrote many influential books and served as the fourth president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (SBTS) from 1899-1928.

    Was a well-known evangelist who was most renowned for his crusades across the USA and around the world in which he faithfully preached a simple message of the gospel. Graham authored many of books, appeared on radio, television and co-founded evangelical magazine Christianity Today. There is no doubt that he was a hugely respected figure by Americans and seen as one of the most well-known evangelical Christians in the world, whose legacy continues through Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

    Was a pastor and author who first served as president of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) in 1979 following his election at the start of what is known as the 1979 the Conservative Resurgence, and as a key figure in the battle against liberalism within the SBC.1 Rogers was a man who was committed to defending the inerrancy of scripture, unwilling to comprise on the Word of God and yet did so with integrity.

    Wallace was a medical missionary lived, worked and died in China. He died at the hands of the communist regime who brutally interrogated him and tortured him until officially he committed suicide on Feb. 10, 1951 at the age of 43. He was a man know for his tireless hard work and commitment to his patients, even continuing his work in China through Japanese bombings, although often few in words his commitment to Christ was clear in his actions and willingness to suffer for the name of his Lord.

    Is the current President of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (SBTS), and has served in that position since his election in 1993, he has been a key figure in what is known as the conservative resurgence within SBTS the flagship seminary within the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC).

    Despite the attempts by moderates within the SBC they could not stem the tide of the conservative resurgence, and it was at this convention the largest within the history of the SBC that served as a watershed moment for those involved. This convention saw Charles Stanley a conservative, re-elected as president of the SBC for his second term and was a sign for those who were opposing the doctrine of biblical inerrancy that they would ultimately lose out on the battle for the SBC.

    R. Albert Mohler Appointed president at SBTS
    Mohler himself a man deeply committed to the Bible and the SBC sought to bring about a number of significant changes most essentially the necessity for the faculty to all agree with the doctrine of the inerrancy of scripture and agree with the Abstract of Principals. This brought about a significant shift among the faculty with a number of liberal theologians leaving SBTS and the appointment of well respected scholars who affirmed the inerrancy of scripture.
