When my parents divorced, it was a time of hardship for me because this was pretty much my family breaking apart. This connects to Laurence because one of his hardships are him not being able to play sports with his dad and brother. We both feel like we are breaking out families apart. -

Hardship
When my sister Zoë passed away, it was a really hard time of hardship and tragedy for my family and I. My sister died, that is a worst of the worst kind of situation. Laurence has asthma which holds him back a lot. We can connect because he is getting something that he doesn't deserve to him and I am also getting something that I don't think I deserve given to me. -

Finding Something Unique About Yourself
On this day, I started to play travel volleyball for the first time. This is just one time that I have found out that I was unique. Not many people can say that the have played travel volleyball, but I can. Volleyball was a mini-vacation for me where I could just get away from things. Laurence learns he is unique when he reads books. He has his own little getaway everyone else is occupied while he reads in his room by himself. -

During this time my stepmother's verbal abuse towards me started to get worse. This was a time of denial to true self for me because I knew that it would never get better but I kept telling myself it would. Laurence was in a situation like this when he tried to play sports. He always thought that he would get better but deep down inside, he knew that he wouldn't. -

On this day I stood up to my stepmother about her verbal abuse. It was probably the hardest decision I have ever made but it is also probably the best. Laurence searches for his new self when he takes up the challenge of attempting to kill the rat with his father. It was a nice try, but didn't work out in the end. -

On this day, my dad surprised my at school. This was a denial to true self for me because I kept telling my self that it would be okay but I knew it wouldn't. Laurence denies his true self when he ran away from the rat. Deep inside, I think he could have stayed and gotten the job done, but he ran anyways. -
