French and Indian war
Started in 1754 ended in 1763.
The French and Indians fought the British over the Ohio River Valley. The Indians stopped helping the French. The British won. -
Proclamation of 1763
King George III forbid the colonists from settling west of the Appalacians. It was reserved for the indians. -
Stamp Act
Parliment passed the Stamp Act, a tax on printed paper, making the colonists pay for the French and Indian war. -
Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was when the Colonists and some British Troops got into a fight. Five colonists died. The Colonists started the fight. -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party happened when the sons of liberty dressed up as indians to board a ship and dump all the tea on that ship. The bay was closed after that. -
1st Continental Congress
Sep. 5-1778 to Oct. 26-1774.
The First Continental Congress. They met in Philedalphia,Pensylvania. They discussed problems that they were having with Great Briain. -
Battles of Lexington and Concord
In the battles of Lexington and Concord some colonists (called minutemen) of Great Britain ambushed the Redcoats and the minutemen hid behind obstacles. -
Declaration of independence
The declaration of independence was on July 4 1776 and was when Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin made the declaration. -
Battle of Saratoga
9-19-1777 to 10-7-1777.
Part of the Battle of Saratoga was when three army commanders met at one place. The Continental army wasn't that good but they still won. -
Surrender at Yorktown
9-28-1781 to 10-19-1777.
At the Surrender of Yorktown General (Lord) Cornwallis and his army got surrounded by the French and Americans. America won. -
Treaty of Paris
The reason the Treaty of Paris was made because America was at war with Great Britain trying to get independence and was part of Great Britain. Cornwallis surrendered.
